The ball fields at Oakhurst Park will open this weekend, and the event will start with an opening day parade at 11 am, Saturday, June 7, at McKoy Park. Marshall Kendrick, husband of the late Shirley Kendrick, is the parade’s Grand Marshall, and will throw out the first pitch.

My Parents’ Basement, a comics and craft beer store that’s looking for space in our area, will hold a yard sale this Saturday, June 7, at 1064 Forrest Boulevard, Decatur, Ga 30030, from 7 am to 5 pm. The advertisement says there will be, “Thousands of Comics for sale, Comics by the pound for just a dollar a pound. Lots on New 52, Marvel Now, Image, Valiant and lots of comics from the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s up to today. Free snacks, beer, carnival games and raffle prizes.”

Avondale Estates Farmers Market is held each Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm at the parking lot of Little Tree Art Studios located at 2846 Franklin St.

Virginia Highland Summerfest will be June 7 and June 8 at 833 Virginia Avenue Northeast in Atlanta. The event is from 10 am to 11 pm on Saturday and 10 am to 6 pm on Sunday. The event announcement says, “Visitors to Summerfest celebrate the beginning of the season by shopping for original art, tasting great food and enjoying exceptional live music. This year’s event will feature a 5K race on Saturday morning, along with children’s activities in the KidsFest area. Summerfest takes place along tree-lined Virginia Avenue, in the heart of the historic and charming Virginia-Highland neighborhood.” To learn more, click here.
