An accident on I-285 Friday morning killed a woman and a 10-year-old boy.

Capt. Steven Fore with DeKalb County Police said the accident occurred at 6:30 am on I-285 northbound, just south of Memorial Drive.

Fore said the preliminary investigation has determined a 2007 Volvo tractor with double trailers broke down on the interstate. A 2007 Honda Odyssey minivan carrying a family of four ran into the rear of the stopped tractor/trailer. A female passenger, Sri Susanto, 43, died at the scene. The driver of the minivan, 43, went to Grady and is expected to survive, Fore said. A son, Hubert Lim, 10, died of his injuries by the time he arrived at Children’s Hospital at Egleston.  Another son, 13, was transported to Egleston and is expected to survive, Fore said.

The family lived in Johns Creek. The accident is still under investigation, Fore said.
