Avondale Police are looking for a red pickup truck that sped away from an accident at the intersection of Covington Road and Lakeshore Drive on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The accident involved three vehicles, including the driver that fled the scene, according to police.

“The vehicle that left the scene was described as a red pickup truck (possibly a Dodge) headed south on Lakeshore Drive (the wrong way on a one-way road) at a high rate of speed past the (Avondale) elementary school,” the bulletin from the Avondale Police Department says.

The accident occurred at 8:50 am.

Investigator Tom Gillis said the accident didn’t result in any major injuries.

Gillis said he’s received a few leads so far, but still no tag number.

“I’m hoping tomorrow I can get a copy of the surveillance from the elementary school,” he said.
