The Georgia Department of Transportation is accelerating the pace of roadwork this weekend after scaling back projects last weekend to accommodate shoppers participating in the back-to-school sales tax holiday.

Here is GDOT’s roadwork schedule for Atlanta:

– Crews will be working on I-285 top end sign structures and that will require closing two inside northbound lanes and one inside southbound lane between I-75 and Northside Drive. The lanes will be closed continuously from 9 pm Friday until 5 am Monday.

– There will also be signage work on I-285 between Chamblee Tucker Road and I-75 that will require closing one inside northbound lane. The lane will be closed from 9 pm Friday until 5 am Monday, but it will be closed in “sequential two-mile increments.”

– Crews will close an outside lane on GA 400 northbound between Sidney Marcus Boulevard and Lenox Road from 9 pm Friday until 5 am Monday to accommodate underground cable work.

In addition, GDOT will begin paving US 278 through Avondale Estates starting this Sunday, Aug. 10, at 9 pm to 5 am Monday, Aug. 11.

According to the city of Avondale Estates, “Work is scheduled through noon on Saturday, August 16. They will begin with the single right lane closed from Memorial Drive (S.R. 154) through Avondale Estates and up to East Lake Drive before changing directions, milling and re-paving intersections and driveways. As crews progress, lanes will be closed at various times.”
