Heartbroken about the news that Zesto on Ponce de Leon is closing?

Cheer up. The restaurant is going to be replaced by a Cook Out restaurant, Tomorrow’s News Today reports.

Tomorrow’s News says that the North Carolina chain restaurant, which recently opened a location in East Atlanta, has purchased the property with the intention of converting it into a Cook Out restaurant. There’s also a Cook Out planned for Northside Drive near Georgia Tech.

“A permit filed (Sept. 16) with the City of Atlanta calls for interior renovations including a new layout, walls, doors, electrical systems, lighting, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen equipment, flooring, ceiling finishes, and paint,” Tomorrow’s News reports. “The iconic exterior, however, ‘will remain the same,’ according to the application.  Cookout is expected to spend an estimated $85,000 in upgrades.”

That iconic exterior is one of the hallmarks of the building, winning the designers an Atlanta Urban Design Commission’s Award for Architectural Excellence in 1991.
