The annual Kirkwood Wine Stroll returns on Sept. 26 and ticket sales already are ahead of last year’s, according to one of the organizers.

This year’s event will be the last hurrah for outgoing Kirkwood Business Owners’ Association President Damon Sgrignoli.

“I’m going to help clean up the Wine Stroll and then I’m stepping down that next day,” he said.

According to the event page, Wine Stroll begins at 6:30 pm and ends at 11 pm. It will be held at 1963 Hosea L Williams Drive Northeast. Advance tickets are now $35, and $40 at the door. In addition to tasting wines from around the world and getting a souvenir wine glass, guests will also get a chance to hear Beatles cover band Abbey Road.

“They seem really, really good,” Sgrignoli said. “They seem like they’re really talented musicians.”

“The band is all set up,” he added. “We’ve got a nice stage set up over there by Howard Street at the Valero. It’s going to look like a produced event.”

The annual event’s proceeds are used for KBOA beautification projects around Kirkwood and a portion of it gets donated to local schools, Sgrignoli said.

There will be a raffle this year with prizes from various Kirkwood businesses, he said.

“Ticket sales are better than last year already at this time. Everything is kind of falling in line,” Sgrignoli said.
