If you like grabbing a late-night snack from the Zesto on Ponce de Leon Avenue, better grab one while you can.

After 60 years, the company’s Ponce de Leon location is closing, the company announced. The restaurant will be closed as of Sept. 20.

“This neighborhood institution began by selling only ice cream on this spot in 1954,” the company’s website says. “The small original walk-up building was razed and rebuilt in 1991, a showpiece bearing the porcelain, chrome, neon, coved ceilings, and tiled floors and walls of a classic diner.”

The Ponce Zesto location also won the Atlanta Urban Design Commission’s Award for Architectural Excellence in 1991, the company says. An undisclosed buyer has purchased the property.

Zesto says its five other locations in the metro area will remain open.
