The two suspects accused of robbing and murdering an Army reservist in Kirkwood will stand trial in December.

Qutravius Palmer and Zion Wainwright will stand trial on Dec. 9, according to Margie Yondorf, Vice President of the Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization.  The trial will be held in DeKalb County courthouse in courtroom 6B. The prosecutor will be from Fulton County.

The trial will occur shortly before the anniversary of the crime.

The two are accused of murdering X’avier Arnold on Dec. 26 while he was walking a bike trail near the Pullman Yard. Both have pleaded not guilty. The prosecution’s case already faces some challenges. Defense attorneys have questioned a lack of physical evidence connecting their clients to the crime. One of the main witnesses to the crime, Ibrahim Sanusi, drowned at Lake Lanier back in June. Sanusi was with Arnold and another friend when they were attacked.

There are still signs in Kirkwood displaying a giant “X” as a reminder of the crime. Yondorf and other Kirkwood residents are making plans to attend each day of the trial and wear special t-shirts in a show of solidarity with the victim’s family.
