Avondale Estates Police are alerting residents about two recent crimes in the city.

According to a Dec. 12 police advisory, a resident at the 3000 block of Oakham Place reported a burglary.

“Officers responded around 2:15 pm when a homeowner discovered that a rear window had been opened and an electronic tablet had been stolen,” the advisory says. “It is suspected that this occurred between approximately 12:30 pm and 2:15 pm. Neighbors reported that they observed a young black male in that area during that time frame, and he said he was looking for work. He is described to be in his teens or 20s and wearing a dark, hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Tom Gillis at 404-291-4526.”

Police also issued an advisory on Dec. 11 about someone stealing tip jars of two local businesses. The thefts occurred on East College Avenue and Laredo Drive between 3 and 4 pm. The suspect took the tip jars from the counters and fled.

“In each incident, the suspect has been described as a black female wearing a camouflage jacket/shirt. One location further described the subject as being approximately 5’6 in height and about 110 pounds, with short black hair that has a red tint,” the advisory says. “Also in both cases, the suspect was last seen being driven away by a black male in a small Honda, possibly an Accord, green to greenish-blue in color.”

Anyone with information can contact Investigator Gillis at 404-291-4526.
