City spokesperson Casie Yoder said crews will begin fixing a sinkhole at the intersection of Northern Avenue at the intersection with West Ponce de Leon.

Yoder said the city has hired Gorman Construction. Work will begin today at noon.

The city first reported the sinkhole on Dec. 29.

“It is barricaded and the street is mostly blocked,” Yoder said. “Drivers cannot exit Northern Ave. onto W Ponce and should use an alternate route such as Montgomery to Fairview. Please avoid this intersection until further notice.”
