Driver charged in Decatur hit and run that sent cyclist to the hospital

Decatur Police have arrested a man on charges that he hit a cyclist with his car on Feb 2 and fled the scene.
According to a statement, on Feb. 9 Zachary Thigpen surrendered to Decatur Police, accompanied by his attorney.
He is accused of hitting cyclist Wesley Upshur on Feb. 2. The incident occurred at East College Avenue and Sams Street. Upshur was treated and released for “non-life threatening injuries,” police said.
Thigpen faces the following charges:
