This just in from Decatur’s Sgt. Jennifer Ross: Investigators have arrested the 16-year-old male from DeKalb County who was wanted for armed robbery and criminal attempt to commit theft by taking of a motor vehicle for this case.

This is for an armed robbery that happened March 4 at a parking lot at the corner of Church Street and Commerce Drive.

When the victim returned to his jeep in the lot around 11 p.m., he noticed the lock and ignition were damaged. The vehicle wouldn’t start up, and when he went back to Decatur Square, someone approached him and asked if he was alright. The victim said he was upset and thought that was why the person asked.

Ross said in her initial report of the incident:

“The victim returned to his vehicle at approximately 11:25 pm and observed a black male in the driver’s seat and two black males by the bushes next to his vehicle. He told the suspect in the vehicle to get out of the vehicle and the males began walking away from him. He then attempted to take a picture of the suspects with his cell phone. At this time, one of the suspects ran at the victim with a handgun drawn, and demanded his cell phone. The victim gave the suspects his cell phone and password.  The suspects fled on foot toward Clairemont Avenue. The victim was not injured.”

Editor’s note: Sgt. Ross said Tuesday afternoon that the suspect is now in custody. The story has been updated to reflect this information.
