Could there be a better day to open a pizza pie shop than on Pi Day?

DaVinci’s Pizzeria opened in downtown Decatur on Saturday. The restaurant had planned to open in December, but encountered some delays.

General Manager Miles Rougier told Decaturish, “We are open today. It’s slowly but steadily picking up. We’re really excited to be here in the city of Decatur.”

He said DaVinci’s is celebrating Pi Day with some pizza pie specials. Pi Day is celebrated March 14th (3/14). In 2015, the date matches the first five digits of the mathematical constant: 3.1415.

Math fans often enjoy pie on Pi Day, but Rougier said, “Today, all day, to celebrate Pi Day we are selling 8-inch round slices, one topping, for $3.14. That’s for dine-in and carry-out.”

Rougier said DaVinci’s is offering $1.50 PBR all day as well. He said the pizzeria has gluten-free 12-inch crusts available. They also deliver within a three-mile radius.

DaVinci’s, which has three other locations including one in Midtown across from the Arts Center MARTA station, took over space on Ponce de Leon Place that was previously occupied by a Mellow Mushroom. The Mellow Mushroom shut down in May after the owners had a dispute with the company’s corporate office.
