People planning on traveling this weekend won’t have to avoid any of metro Atlanta’s major roadways.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is taking a bit of a break during the Easter holiday.

“This Easter weekend, Georgia DOT will limit lane closures on Interstate Highways throughout the state from midnight Friday, April 3, until 5 am Monday, April 6,” GDOT’s press release says. “The following weekend, all interstates across Georgia will limit lane closures from 10 pm, Friday, April 10, until 5 am, Monday, April 13. To accommodate Braves Baseball opening weekend traffic, lane closures will not be allowed on surface streets in the vicinity of Turner Field in Atlanta during this period .”

GDOT says to expect heavy traffic over the next two weekends.

“Motorists can access real-time, statewide, route-specific information on accidents, road work, traffic and weather conditions through Georgia 511 – a free phone service,” GDOT says. “By dialing 511, callers also can transfer to operators 24 hours a day to report incidents or request assistance.”
