Drew Charter’s Band Booster Club held a fundraiser at Eddie’s Attic in Decatur on April 26.

The event featured music by Oliver Wood of The Wood Brothers, a roots music act, and Eliot Bronson, a singer songwriter.

“Music for children has been proven to help with academics and is obviously great for self-expression and self confidence,” Wood said in a statement provided to Decaturish. “I spent over 20 great years living in Atlanta and playing music. To me, the best thing about music is that it connects people. Musicians connect with each other and with listeners, and the love and appreciation of music often bonds people together – through good and bad times. All kids should be exposed to music and given opportunities to play and participate.”

“I’ve lived in Decatur and Kirkwood for many years now. I feel connected to this community. If there’s a way to help kids out in my own neighborhood, I’ve got to do it,” Bronson said.
