The Decatur Arts Festival isn’t for a few more weeks, but the big poster unveiling is happening Thursday evening.

It starts at 5:30 p.m. on the Square in Downtown Decatur. The city says everyone attending will get a free 2015 poster. It’s part of several pre-festival events happening this month to celebrate the arts.

On Friday, May 15, a free Decatur Lantern Parade begins at 8 p.m. Participants are invited to make a lantern and then march to the Square from the Color Wheel Studio at 508 E. Howard Ave.

There’s also an ArtWalk on Friday, May 22 from 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. It’s described as “Decatur’s largest one-night gallery event – now with a DJ and fire twirler! Stroll around town to see exhibits at various shops, galleries, and restaurants and enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks.”

You can see the full list of festival events on the Decatur Arts Festival website.
