The Georgia Department of Transportation is back to business as usual after a Memorial Day respite and I-285 will feature heavily in its weekend construction plans.

GDOT says, “Motorists again are asked to avoid non-essential travel on Interstate 285. Projects there will require lane closures, which, in turn, are likely to result in delays.”

Clear enough. Here’s what’s on the to-do list …

– On I-285, two northbound lanes will close from SR 280/ South Cobb Drive to South Atlanta Road and two southbound lanes will close from SR 139/ Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to SR 8/ US 278/ Hollowell Parkway from 9 pm, Friday until 5 am, Monday for concrete rehabilitation;

– Sign structure work will require two northbound and southbound lanes to close on I-285 from SR 8/ US 278/ Hollowell Parkway to the I-20 interchange from 9 pm, Friday until 5 am, Monday;

– One eastbound lane will close on I-285 from SR 141/ Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to SR 13/ Buford Highway from 7:30 pm, Friday until 8 pm, Sunday;

– Work on Spaghetti Junction will require one lane and shoulder to close on I-285 westbound inside of Spaghetti Junction, over I-85; one lane will close on I-85 southbound from Northcrest Road to I-285; and part of the I-285 westbound exit ramp to SR 13/ Buford Highway will close continuously from 9 pm, Friday, until 5 am, Monday;

– On I-85, one northbound lane will close between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Indian Trail Road from 10 pm, Friday until 9 pm, Saturday;

– Resurfacing on I-20 will require one westbound and one eastbound lane to close from SR 20/SR 138/ Stockbridge Highway to the Newton County line from 9 pm, Friday until 5 am, Monday;

– On I-20, two westbound lanes will close between the I-75/I-85 interchange and Langhorn Street, continuously from 9 pm, Friday, until 5 am, Monday, for bridge joint replacement;

– On Georgia (State Route) 400, one southbound lane will close from the Mountain Way, underpass to Sydney Marcus Boulevard from 9 pm, Friday, until 8 am, Sunday for fiber optic cable installation;

– Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane will close on Georgia (State Route) 400 at Northridge Road from 10 pm, Friday until 5 am, Monday;

– The Express Lanes project will require two lanes to close on Big Shanty Road under I-75 from 9 pm, Friday, until 10 am, Saturday;

– On SR 14, one northbound and one southbound lane will close between Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard to Spring Street in Atlanta, continuously from 9 pm, Friday until 5 am, Monday;

– On SR 139/ Ralph David Abernathy, one lane will close from Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard to Evans Street from 9 am, until 4 pm, Saturday;

– Pipeline construction will require one lane closure at SR 237/Piedmont Road and Habersham Road from 8 am, until 5 pm, Saturday;

– One lane will close on SR 10/ Freedom Parkway at US 78/US 278/ Ponce de Leon Avenue from 8 pm, Saturday until 8 pm, Sunday; and finally

– On SR 154/ Memorial Drive, one lane will close between the Moreland Avenue and Wilkinson Drive and one lane will close on SR 154/ Memorial Drive between East Lake Drive and Candler Road both closures are from 9 am, until 3 pm, Saturday.
