The Imagine Memorial Corridor Study is ready for the public to review.

In her May newsletter, Atlanta Councilwoman Natalyn Archibond said, “We are excited to share the draft of the Imagine Memorial Corridor Study with all of our neighbors along Memorial Drive. Please provide our office with comments and feedback. The Office of Planning is currently conducting its review and will be creating the final planning document to be submitted to the City Council and sent to the NPUs for review and approval. Your comments and feedback will be sent to the Office of Planning to assist them in the creation of the final document.”

The draft of the study is broken up into five sections and suggested topics for comment are included. The sections are:

  • Development and Market Feasibility
  • Housing Strategy
  • Roadway – Speed and Traffic
  • Roadway – Intersection Design
  • Connectivity – Transit, Bicycles and Pedestrians

Comments should be emailed to [email protected].

As Decaturish contributor Kim Hutcherson reported, Archibong asked Georgia Tech to choose Memorial Drive as the subject of the year’s Design Studio class. Every year, the studio selects an urban feature in Atlanta for analysis. Students have examined Atlantic Station, the Beltline, Northside Drive, and Fort McPherson.

In March, Archibong introduced a measure that would create the Imagine Memorial Task Force, a 27-member task force to supervise approval, adoption, and implementation of plans.
