Demand for Decatur water slide passes crashes Slide the City ticket system

Share

Sales of tickets to ride a giant water slide through downtown Decatur have gotten off to a bumpy start.

According to the city, the Slide the City ticket sales site couldn’t handle the volume of requests.

“Ack! Us Decaturites are so used to buying tickets for the Beer Festival at lightning speed that the Slide the City ticket system just couldn’t keep up with the demand! They are working hard to get the site up and running smoothly again so please be patient,” the city wrote on its Decatur Minute blog. “And don’t panic- they aren’t sold out. YET.”

Tickets for this summer’s “Slide the City” event officially went on sale Wednesday, June 10, at 9 am. Ticket holders will get to ride a 1,000 foot water slide down West Ponce de Leon Avenue on July 25.

According to the city and the Slide the City website, the water slide will stretch from Clairemont to a little past Ponce de Leon Place and will be longer than three football fields. Ticket sales will help raise money for the Decatur Business Association.
