Avondale Estates Food Truck Wednesdays

Just in time for summer, Food Truck Wednesdays is launching in Avondale Estates.

It gears up next Wednesday, June 10, from 6-9 p.m for the next six weeks at 119 Center Street in Tudor Square.

“Indoor and outdoor seating are available, live music as well as alcohol sold on site. We will host a combination of savory and sweet trucks weekly and a selection of local vendors,” said Bettie Cagle, founder of Redbird Events, which is organizing the food trucks.

Here’s the food truck line-up for the first Food Truck Wednesday:

MIX’d UP
WOW! Food Truck
Tasting Maine
Yumbii
King of Pops
SnoBayou Handcrafted SnoBalls

“Hopefully, it will grow and we will need more of them [trucks], and we will continue well beyond the six weeks,” Cagle said. And she said if the community response is strong, Food Truck Wednesdays could continue into the fall.

Cagle said the trucks will vary week to week, but she plans to have four savory food trucks and two sweet vendors. Her company organizes multiple food truck events around metro Atlanta. Cagle said former mayor Ed Rieker, owner of Tudor Square, approached her with the idea to have an event to get more people to come to Avondale Estates.

“Food and music is what will bring everyone together,” said Cagle. “I love providing an event where people are really meeting their neighbors for the first time.”

The first band on the stage next week is Atlanta band Chris Stalcup and the Grange.

Another event coordinator recently started Food Truck Mondays in Decatur.
