A Lucky’s Burgers & Brew is under construction and will open this summer in Emory Village, where Starbucks was previously located.

General Manger Ted Lescher told Decaturish he is expecting a mid-August opening for what will be the third Lucky’s location. Lescher said the first restaurant opened in Roswell in 2010, and a Brookhaven location opened last summer.

When asked what customers can look forward to, Lescher said, “The best burgers and the coldest beer in town!” Lescher also said the menu will appeal to Emory University students on a budget, pointing out, “We don’t have anything over $12.”

Lescher noted that Lucky’s, named after majority owner Ernie Geyer’s dog, will be very dog friendly. “We let dogs on the patio,” he said.

Lucky, a Golden Retriever, is celebrating his ninth birthday this weekend at the Roswell location. Lescher said the birthday celebration will benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Decaturish asked Lescher what he thought about being the second dog-themed restaurant in Emory Village, joining Bad Dog Taqueria. “I haven’t been there yet,” said Lescher. “I’ll have to look into it.”
