The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that City Schools of Decatur has placed four acres of property along Talley Street under contract and plans to build a school there.

CSD will reportedly pay $5 million for the property, the AJC reported. The AJC story says the purchase will likely be contingent upon the approval of a $75 million bond for school construction. That issue will be on the ballot this November. The passage of the bond is far from a certainty. Voters would have to willingly raise their own taxes by 8 percent so CSD can borrow the money, and total property values in Decatur are projected to grow by 20 percent over last year.

Decaturish has reached out to CSD for more information about this story and will update when the school system responds.
