With the Nov. 3 elections on the horizon, local officials are firming up their plans for reelection.
But Decatur’s Mayor Pro Tem Kecia Cunningham said she hasn’t decided if she’ll try to remain in the seat she’s held since 1999. She’s the city’s second-longest serving commissioner. When Decaturish asked her at the end of the July 20 meeting if she will run again, she said she would not make any statements.
She noted that qualifying for the upcoming election begins on Aug. 31.
Mayor Jim Baskett, the city’s longest-serving commissioner, recently decided against seeking another term. Commissioner Scott Drake said he is running for reelection.
