The Decatur Police Department and Decatur Active Living will be registering bikes this Tuesday, July 14, at the Decatur Recreation Center, 231 Sycamore Street.

It’s part of the Team Decatur Kick-off and Health Expo, and it goes from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

There is no charge to register your bike. Decatur police say having the owner contact info and serial number documented allows officers to quickly contact the owner when they recover a stole bicycle.

Be Active Decatur says as part of the Team Decatur Kick-off, participants will get the chance to meet Olympian Jeff Galloway and Mayor Jim Baskett. Team Decatur is a group of Decatur residents and employees who take part in the annual Kaiser Permanente Corporate Run/Walk 5K in September, according to the city website.
