Two seats on the City Schools of Decatur Board of Education will be on the ballot Nov. 3, but only one of the School Board members will be seeking another term.

School Board Chairman Garrett Goebel told Decaturish he plans to run for a reelection this year to the District 1 Post B seat. Goebel was first elected to the board in 2011, and he was elected board chairman in January by a divided School Board. The board unanimously approved Julie Rhame’s election as vice chair. Rhame said she would not be seeking a fourth term in the District 2 Post B seat.

Rhame made her announcement during the July 14 School Board meeting and got choked up toward the end of her remarks.

“I’m very proud of the progress CSD has made and I’m very pleased to serve a small role in that process,” Rhame said.
