The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is suspending construction-related lane closures near shopping malls Friday and Saturday because of the sales tax holiday.

GDOT said, “The restriction will offer some relief from construction-related lane closures as families prepare to send their children back to school. Weather permitting, some construction in the metro Atlanta area will resume when the restriction ends on Saturday night.”

Here’s GDOT’s list of planned work this weekend:

· One eastbound and one westbound lane will close on SR 316 from Herrington Road to SR 120 continuously from 9 p.m., Friday until 5 a.m., Monday for resurfacing;

· On I-285 northbound, one lane and part of the entrance and exit ramps from SR 260/ Glenwood Road to Chamblee Tucker Road will close nightly from 10 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;

· Three westbound lanes will close on I-20 from Windsor Street to Langhorn Street continuously from 10 p.m., Saturday, until 5 a.m., Monday;

· One northbound and one southbound lane will close on I-85 from SR 139/ Riverdale Road to Cleveland Avenue nightly from 10 p.m., Saturday until 5 a.m., Monday for striping;

· Bridge work on Spaghetti Junction will require a traffic shift and one lane closure on the I-285 eastbound ramp to I-85 northbound from 10 p.m., Saturday, until 5 a.m., Monday;

· The Express Lanes project will require a pacing operation on I-75 northbound and southbound at the Hickory Grove Road overpass and at the Canton Connector from 10:30 p.m., Friday until 6 a.m., Saturday. Traffic traveling toward the Canton Connector will be detoured unto Barrett Parkway;

· On SR 154/ Memorial Drive, one lane will close between Moreland Avenue and Wilkinson Drive and one lane will close on SR 154/ Memorial Drive between East Lake Drive and Candler Road both closures are from 9 a.m., until 3 p.m., Saturday.
