Avondale Estates is using 4 acres owned by the city in its central business district as free parking for people visiting the city.

Avondale bought 4 acres from Flagstar Bank, a creditor of the failed development known as Century AG/Avondale.

“The City of Avondale Estates’ business district has experienced much growth in the past few years, and the community has expressed a desire for more parking,” an announcement from the city says. “In 2014, the City purchased a little over 4 acres in the Central Business District. To accommodate the City’s ever-expanding business inventory, the City has established free temporary parking lots on the recently purchased property. Visit avondaleestates.org/parking.html to view a downloadable map showing the locations of free temporary parking lots, which are available to anyone.”
