DeKalb County’s Sanitation Division says residents on the Wednesday schedule are getting their roll cart garbage cans next.

DeKalb said in a press release the county finished delivery to Monday/Tuesday schedule customers, and Thursday customers will get their roll out cans next.

It’s all part of the end of twice-a-week garbage collection in DeKalb County, a measure taken to save costs. Phase I of the program, dubbed “Rolling Forward to One,” involves trash can delivery. The county says, “More information on Phase II, which includes a focus on recycling, roll cart delivery to townhome and condominium residents, and rightsizing roll cart requests, will be provided in the coming weeks.”

The roll out hasn’t been completely smooth. As Decaturish previously reported, some residents were confused about when trash would be picked up and when they would receive their new 65-gallon trash receptacle.

DeKalb County spokesman Burke Brennan told Decaturish last month, “Our division estimates that all residents will receive a roll cart by the end of August. However, residents should begin using their roll carts as soon as they receive them.”

DeKalb County said, “Any Monday and Tuesday customers living in single-family detached homes who have not received a roll cart should please contact the Sanitation Division’s customer service team at (404) 294-2900 or [email protected].”
