Two new restaurants located around Decatur are officially open.

Today My Parents’ Basement opened for business in Avondale Estates. The comic book and craft beer-themed restaurant is located at 22 North Avondale Road in a building that was formerly the James Joyce restaurant.

The draft beer menu can be found by clicking here and the food and brunch menus are here and here.  In an interview last month, one of the owners – Lawson Wright – told Decaturish the space would be akin to a “nerd Cracker Barrel.”

Mason Tavern opened on Aug. 11 at 1371 Clairmont Rd, in greater Decatur. It’s currently open for dinner. The restaurant features “Inventive tavern food, local brews and thoughtfully crafted cocktails.”

The tavern is affiliated with Concentrics, the company behind One, Midtown Kitchen, Tap A Gastropub, and The Spence.

More from Mason Tavern’s website:

We bring a fresh take on tavern food using locally sourced ingredients, seasonal inspirations and influences from a diverse Atlanta dining scene. The bar offers locally brewed beers, approachable yet thoughtfully crafted cocktails and quality wines by the glass.

A large central bar built from railroad ties anchors the space while distressed chocolate leather booths make for an intimate setting that is accented by charred woods, polished metals and hickory table tops. Industrial garage doors bring in natural light and extend the patio dining experience indoors.
