My Parents’ Basement comic book and craft beer store will open next week

The long-awaited opening of My Parents’ Basement, a store dedicated to comic books and craft beer, is finally in sight.
The business will officially open on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at 11 a.m. The city of Avondale Estates will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the business on Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m.
My Parents’ Basement will be located at 22 North Avondale Road in a building that was formerly the James Joyce restaurant. In an interview last month, one of the owners – Lawson Wright – told Decaturish the space would be akin to a “nerd Cracker Barrel.”

According to the city of Avondale Estates, “Located in the old James Joyce space, My Parents‘ Basement will offer a menu of approachable bites and small plates along with an impeccable beer selection, full bar, craft sodas, free video games, and the latest in fan-favorite comic books, including classics and hard-to-find titles. After several years of pop-up shops that attracted people from as far away as North Carolina, Alabama and Florida, the trio behind My Parents‘ Basement are set to give craft beer and comic book lovers a new watering hole in Georgia to call home.”
