The City Schools of Decatur Board of Education has approved a contract for the system’s next superintendent, David Dude.

Details of the contract, including Dude’s salary, were not immediately available. Decaturish has requested the contract and School Board Chairman Garrett Goebel said it will be made available after it is signed by Dude.

Dude replaces Phyllis Edwards, who served as the school system’s superintendent for the last 12 years.

Prior to coming to Decatur, Dude was the chief operating officer for the Iowa City Community School District.

Goebel said Dude’s contract is effective Nov. 2, 2015.

Dude recently participated in a lengthy Q&A with Decaturish. To read that interview, click here.
