Pine Street Market in Avondale Estates is hosting a Whole Hog Class Saturday Nov. 14, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pine Street Market employees will explain different cuts of pork, and will break down a whole pig in a butchery demonstration. The class costs $100 and includes lunch and a pork chop and bacon to take home. You can sign up for the class here.

The Kirkwood Whiskey Society is touring the Independent Distilling Co. in Decatur on Friday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The distillery just released its Hellbender Bourbon Whiskey. If you’re interested in taking the tour, email [email protected].

La Calavera Bakery just completed a Kickstarter campaign to purchase a new commercial oven. The Decatur bakery, located at 747 E College Avenue raised more than $20,000 with 196 backers. The bakery said they had been having problems with the old oven and other equipment. La Calavera thanked contributors who helped the bakery reach its goal with 40 hours to spare.

Decaturish has gotten more details on the opening of Brush Sushi Izakaya. Co-owner John Chen said they plan to open in early January, though no official date has been set. Chen told Decaturish the restaurant will have friends and family take part in private “soft openings” in December in order to receive feedback ahead of the official opening.

The Bishop in Avondale Estates is taking orders for Thanksgiving dinner. A package meal of turkey breast, green beans, sweet potato puree, stuffing, cranberry relish, and pie for four to six people costs $100. Orders placed by Nov. 20, will be available for pick-up on Wednesday, Nov. 25. For more information call 404-692-5454.

Urban Pl8, a paleo and gluten-free restaurant, is opening in Krog Street Market on Tuesday, Nov. 17, according to Atlanta Magazine. The restaurant, previously on the Westside, will be located across from Yalla and will offer “prepared sandwiches, salads, and sides, a daily hot special, and paleo meal plans.”
