Stonecrest would have a population of around 50,000 people.

The approval comes in a session where the Legislature hasn’t shown much appetite for revisiting DeKalb County cityhood and annexation issues. In November, a proposed city of LaVista Hills was defeated, while another new city, Tucker,  passed overwhelmingly.
