Feast your eyes on some fresh produce this week as the farmers markets in Decatur and Avondale Estates make their spring debuts.

The Decatur Farmers Market will hold its grand opening on Saturday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at its new location, First Baptist Church, located at 308 Clairemont Ave. The Saturday and Wednesday market will be open every Saturday and Wednesday through December.

“In addition to the return of your favorite vendors, the market will feature exciting new vendors,” the announcement from the city says. “Mayor Patti Garrett, a long-time Decatur market shopper, will be on hand to cut the ribbon for the Grand Opening of this new Saturday location. The Wednesday Decatur Farmers Market is having its Spring Launch this Wednesday, March 30th at this same Decatur First Baptist Church location. Hours tomorrow and from now on will be 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The Wednesday Market will have the same vendors who have been with us through the winter as well as some exciting new vendors.”

At Wednesday’s market on March 30, “Savannah Haseler of Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards will be cooking up a delicious tasting of what’s available at market!” The demonstration begins at 6 p.m.

“Come check out her chef demo and talk to her about Twain’s soon-to-open Comet Pub & Lanes featuring her special take on bowling alley cuisine,” the announcement from the city says.

The Avondale Estates Farmers Market returns on Sunday, April 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will run every Sunday through October, and will be held in the parking lot of My Parents’ Basement, located at 22 North Avondale Road.
