Decatur Police respond to report of armed robbery on Clairemont Avenue

Decatur Police responded to a report of an armed robbery on Wednesday evening, April 13.

Police Lt. Jennifer Ross said the armed robbery occurred in the 1000 block of Clairemont Avenue near Walden Square Way at approximately 10:30 p.m.

“The victim reported he was walking south on the sidewalk on Clairemont Avenue when he observed two males walking south on the sidewalk on the other side of the road,” Ross said. “The two males then crossed the street and suspect No. 2 stopped behind him and bent down as though he was tying his shoe.  Suspect No. 1 then appeared in front of him and pointed a handgun at him. Suspect No. 2 grabbed the victim from behind and demanded he walk onto Walden Square Way. Suspect No. 1 took the victim’s wallet, phone, headphones and watch and ordered the victim to lay on the ground. Both suspects then fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not injured.”

Here are the descriptions of the suspects:

Suspect No. 1: Black male, mid 20’s, approximately 5’07”, wearing a black zippered hoodie and dark jeans and armed with a silver semi-auto handgun.

Suspect No. 2: Black male, mid 20’s, wearing a black hoodie and black jeans.
