The city of Decatur says the mural will go on both sides of the overpass and on the pilings as depicted in this photo.

The city of Decatur invites the public to meet the artists selected to paint a mural on a MARTA overpass at West Trinity and Atlanta Avenue.

The Decatur Arts Alliance selected the MILAGROS Collective, from Miami and New Orleans, consisting of Felici Asteinza from San Pedro Sula, Honduras and Joey Fillastre. The artists will attend the input meeting scheduled for May 11. The event will be held at the Ebster Recreation Center, 105 Electric Ave, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“We will introduce you to the artists Joey Fillastre and Felici Asteinza, also known as the Milagros Collective, and will also gather your input for the design of the MARTA overpass mural,” the announcement from the city says. “To RSVP or to get questions answered call 404-371-9583 or email admin@decaturartsalliance.org. There will be an additional community input meeting in August. The mural is expected to be completed by October.”

Last year, the city received a $15,000 grant to paint the mural.
