The Comet Pub & Lanes Opening July 15

Offering bowling, food and beer in former Suburban Lanes space

ATLANTA (July 14, 2016) – Comet Pub & Lanes will officially open tomorrow,Friday, July 15, at 5 pm, providing a full experience of bowling, shuffleboard, chef-driven food menu and large beer selection in the heart of Decatur. The team behind Twain’s Brewpub & Billiards took over the former Suburban Lanes space to renovate and turn it into a top family and late-night destination for the area. Being owned by the Twain’s team, the space and menu hints at its sister concept, however will be its own entity with its own personality.

While taking over the former iconic Suburban Lanes, the team wanted to ensure the core stayed, with only some updates including iPad systems for scoring, brand new televisions, upgrades to the lanes and more. The space boasts 32 working lanes that can accommodate up to six bowlers per lane. In addition to the bowling lanes, guests can also sit at the wrap-around bar or play shuffleboard.

The beer menu will include an impressive number of options including 16 draft beers and 50 bottled beer options. Unfortunately guests will not get access to their favorite Twain’s beers at the Comet premises, however plenty of local, craft beers will be available, along with some macro brews.

Chef Savannah Haseler of Twain’s did oversee and create the Comet’s new menu. While Savannah is the mastermind behind the dishes, she will continue to helm the kitchen at Twain’s and only serve in a supportive role at Comet moving forward.

Keeping it simple for the bowling alley, guests can get a plethora of sandwich, burger and pizza options along with other bar snacks. Pizza options are served as build your own or also picking from the top styles.

The restaurant is partnering with various farms and other providers for local products including Pine Street Market, White Oak Pastures, Gum Creek Farms and Springer Mountain Chicken.

Menu highlights include:

– Chicken Wings from Springer Mountain Farms

– Cola BBQ Pulled Pork sandwich with cheddar and fried onion straws on a sesame bun

– Chicken Waffle Dog with a Pine Street Market chicken sausage fried in batter served with a maple bacon aioli

– Build Your Own White Oak Pastures Burger, available in single, double and triple optins

– The “Savannah” pizza with herbed ricotta, broccoli, black and green olives, roasted garlic and tomato
