Agnes Scott College has earned a spot in the top 25 liberal arts colleges in the nation as chosen by “Washington Monthly” magazine.

The Decatur women’s college ranked No. 22 on the list.

“Now in its eleventh year, the Washington Monthly rankings evaluate colleges and universities on the basis of three kinds of metrics: social mobility, research, and public service,” a press release from Agnes Scott says. “This year, for the first time, the rankings incorporated new data from the federal government on graduate earnings and debt repayment rates. Agnes Scott jumped twenty-one places in the rankings ‘due to superior earning results,’ according to ‘Washington Monthly.'”

The press release adds, “Agnes Scott also made Washington Monthly’s top 30 among all southeastern colleges and universities in the ‘Best Bang for the Buck’ category, ranking No. 23. This category evaluates how well schools across institutional types (public, private and for-profit) ‘help non-wealthy students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices.'”

Other local schools on the “Bang for the Buck – Southeast” list include Georgia Tech, No. 14, and Mercer, No. 18.
