Friends are rallying around a Wylde Center employee who is battling cancer.

“Nichole Lupo is the garden and farm to school coordinator at the Wylde Center and has worked closely with all the teachers and kids at Decatur City Schools,” Erin Croom said. “She was diagnosed with a very aggressive tongue cancer last summer and had to have some very complicated and expensive surgeries over the last several months.”

She was cleared of tongue cancer, but was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, Croom said.

“The doctor says that it’s not related to her previous cancer, but that it was definitely treatable,” Croom said.

There will be a fundraiser, A Night out for Nichole, on Oct. 23 to help with Lupo’s  medical bills. The fundraiser itself is sold-out, but people can still donate by clicking here.
