A 14-year-old boy was hit by a car on Thursday afternoon at approximately the same location as an accident that sent a 12-year-old girl to the hospital.

“On Thursday, October 20, 2016 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Decatur Police responded to a pedestrian/vehicle accident in the 100 block of East College Avenue,” Ross said. “The driver of the vehicle was traveling westbound on East College Avenue and struck the pedestrian who was walking southbound in the crosswalk. The pedestrian, a 14-year-old male, sustained injury to a tooth and numerous abrasions and was transported to an area hospital for examination. The driver was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian.”

In December 2015, Lydia Cochran, then 12, was crossing the street but not within a crosswalk  in the 100 block of East College when she was hit. The driver was not charged. The accident left her in critical condition. She has left the hospital, but is still recovering from the accident.
