Decatur Police have arrested a man accused of entering autos.

On Nov. 17 at 10:29 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of East College Avenue after receiving a call about an entering auto in progress, Lt. Jennifer Ross said.

“The witness reported seeing the suspect looking into several vehicles with a flashlight and entering one of the vehicles,” Ross said. “[The officer] located the suspect walking westbound on East College Avenue and the suspect fled on foot across the street and over the guard rail towards East Howard Avenue. [A sergeant] caught the suspect as he attempted to climb up the embankment near the railroad tracks.”

Ross said the suspect, identified as Dennis Williams, 56, of College Park, allegedly told officers that he “only went in two or three.” He was charged with entering an auto and obstruction of an officer, Ross said.
