The founders of the Brick Store Pub in Decatur have been knighted in Belgium for promotion of the country’s famous brews.

According to Global Atlanta, Dave Blanchard, Mike Gallagher and Tom Moore were knighted for their work at the Brick Store, a Decatur institution famous for its Belgian beer bar.

The article says that according to tradition, the Belgian Brewers honor Saint Arnold in a ceremony at the Cathedral of Saint Michael and Saint Gudula.

“Following the blessing those who have made an exceptional contribution to the promotion of Belgian beer both at home and abroad are knighted in a formal ceremony in a chamber of the town hall, which dates back to the 15th century,” the article says. “This year Mr. Blanchard attended the ceremonies to represent the Brick Store and its founders surrounded by members of the order who were cloaked in ceremonial red robes.”
