Smoke from fire on North Georgia Mountains clouds the air
Several readers have noted smoke in the air around the Atlanta area this morning.
Decatur Police Lt. Jennifer Ross said the smoke is being caused by wildfires in the North Georgia Mountains.
According to the National Weather Service, northerly winds are blowing smoke south into the Metro Atlanta area. The NWS says it will cause “visibility reductions” and “breathing sensitivity.”
The Fannin County Emergency Management Agency posted this photo of the fires on its Facebook page.
