A tornado warning and severe thunderstorms led to delays of school dismissals in DeKalb County.

A tornado warning for north central DeKalb County was in effect until 2:15 p.m. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect.

There is a tornado watch in effect for numerous counties, including DeKalb, until 6 p.m.

Chris Billingsley sent this photo of people sheltering in place at the Decatur Home Depot on Lawrenceville Highway. Everyone was calm, he said.

The National Weather Service says wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour are expected. NWS recommends moving into an interior room of the lowest floor of whatever building you’re in.
