A report by Georgia Health News sheds new light on some of the recent staff shakeups at DeKalb Medical.

DeKalb Medical recently confirmed the departure of its CEO, John A. Shelton, and the appointment of local attorney Bob Wilson to replace him. The hospital also confirmed it had laid off 60 employees and will not fill an additional 80 vacancies. The COO and CFO have left the organization. A spokesperson for DeKalb Medical said that there is not financial mismanagement in the organization, but said the hospital was not meeting its revenue goals.

According to Georgia Health News, the hospital is dealing with a high number of uninsured patients and problems with billing, collections and claims denials.

Georgia Health News says the hospital plans to “seek an alliance” with another health system.
