State Rep. Tom Taylor, R-Dunwoody has filed a house resolution calling for a vote to amend the state constitution to allow for the creation of independent school systems.

The resolution, filed Jan. 24, has two cosponsors: Republican Rep. Buzz Brockway of Lawrenceville and Democratic Rep. Valencia Stovall of Forest Park. Dunwoody parents have long sought a chance to create their own school system independent of DeKalb County, but the proposal to amend the constitution to allow it has not been successful in previous legislative sessions.

Decaturish has left a message with all three legislators seeking comment.
