17-year-old accused of killing man near Coan Park

A 17-year-old has been arrested and charged with killing a man near Coan Park.

Atlanta Police said  Jeremy Hogens was arrested on Feb. 8  and charged with murder in the Feb. 4 incident. He had outstanding warrants in DeKalb and Cherokee counties, the Police Department said.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution identified the victim as Sammy Watson, 20. A police report says the body was discovered near a fence at the previous location of Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. The middle school has relocated to Grant Park.

Police responded to the call at 5:42 p.m. on Feb. 4.

“Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots from the area of the Edgewood Court Apartments at 1572 Hardee St NE,” the report says.
