This upcoming Saturday, Feb. 18, the City of Decatur is celebrating Arbor Day.

The city invites residents to come out “to learn about trees, talk to arborists, and help plant trees” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The event will be held at Scott Park, 231 Sycamore St. in Decatur, which sits behind the recreation center.

CSD’s new Landscape Infrastructure Coordinator and Arborist Kay Evanovich will be present to talk trees with attendees.

All who come can take a complimentary tree seedling back home, and 50 Catalpa and 50 Redbud trees will be given away “on a first come first served basis per household,” the announcement from the city says.
