Beech Drive at Memorial Drive in DeKalb County will be shut down for several days after a contractor installing fiber optic cables struck a 36-inch water main.

The accident happened on Tuesday evening, a press release from DeKalb County says.

“Road closure signs are posted on Beech Drive and traffic cones are blocking the right turning lane on Memorial Drive at the intersection,” a press release from the county says. “Department of Watershed crew members will be on hand throughout the night to ensure safety around the site. Due to the extent of the repair, Beech Drive is expected to be closed to through-traffic for a few days.”
