The Police Department says traffic near the marathon route will experience some delays, and “runners have the right-of-way at all times.”

The police department also reminds drivers that “traffic will not be permitted to turn onto roads that are closed, [and] traffic will be permitted onto the roads with partial lane closures when doing so will not impede the runners.”

Like in past years, there will be set locations for cheering the runners: West College Ave & Mead Rd., Fellini’s on Commerce Dr., and on E. Ponce de Leon Ave. in front of Decatur’s old courthouse.

Decatur marks the half-marathon point, so cheering is encouraged any place on the runners’ route.

The Police Department added, “If you have no plans that require driving, it’s a great day to walk into downtown Decatur for errands, brunch and to cheer!”
